In September of 2018, Lori Trahan won a 10-person primary by less than 200 votes. She then ran straight into the general election as the presumed frontrunner. I was contacted by their team to give their website a makeover. My goal was to make it easier for their target audience to find the information they needed, make a donation, volunteer for the campaign, or sign up to receive updates.

Where We Came From
Lori’s original campaign website had served its purpose. It got her through a competitive primary but was overrun with information. There were too man places to click that took you to different places. For better or worse, political campaigns and campaign websites are focused on raising money to reach more voters. To pivot to the general election, it was time that Lori’s website reflected just that
We sought out to rebuild Lori’s website from the ground up. With the primary behind her we needed to build a web presence that was strategic and focused on the general election. Where potential voters and donors could find what they needed easily.
Building a website that works
After studying Lori’s website and her campaign we knew that work needed to be done. We made it easier for donors to give money and for potential volunteers to sign up. We made digital a priority by highlighting the need to acquire email addresses. Her new website is fully mobile responsive and easy to navigate. As a result, we saw an increase in online donations, more emails subscribed to her mailing list, and an increase in traffic as we approached the general election.
Lori Trahan won the general election decisively and now represents the 3rd district of Massachusetts in Congress.
